About

Coral Kids

Coral Kids is a long-form documentary and visual storytelling project in Aitutaki, created by artist and filmmaker Raquel Trejo in collaboration with Grow Aitutaki and Aitutaki Coral Restoration.Through photography workshops, children’s image-making, field notes, and documentary development, the project follows how children, families, and community mentors build a visual archive of lagoon life and environmental learning. The work brings together shared storytelling, community authorship, and practical documentation, with children’s photographs forming part of an evolving archive that records their experiences of the lagoon from their own point of view. Coral Kids is currently in development and welcomes support for cameras, film, workshops, printing, archive development, and future fieldwork.
